Sonny's Kids Foundation, Inc. has been put in place to honor the memory of James "Sonny" Buchanan who had a love for life and a love for the good in all people. Sonny was actively involved in the Montgomery County Boys and Girls Club branches in Silver Spring and Germantown, Montgomery County Crime Solvers and was a mentor to many children in Montgomery County, Maryland. He truly believed that everyone should be given an opportunity in life to succeed and have a chance to earn an education, regardless of his or her background.

Sonny's Kids will honor Sonny's dreams by providing scholarships and educational grants. Currently the money donated has been given to several different programs, all supporting our main goal of helping kids. Several scholarships have been given out through the Montgomery County Boys & Girls Clubs. Sonny’s Kids has provided a grant to the Mark Twain School in Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland, to set up a G.E.D. Center. A grant is also being used to continue a music program at a Southwest Virginia school. All donations are greatly appreciated. We thank you for your support as we carry on in Sonny's name to achieve the mission of the Foundation by providing educational opportunities to children.
