1st Sonny Buchanan Winter Basketball League Banquet

On Saturday, April 24th, the first awards banquet was held for the young men that participated in this years Sonny Buchanan winter basketball league. We would like to thank Al Whitley, the league's commissioner, for being instrumental in helping organize and raise funds for the league, and also to the two guest speakers at the awards banquet: Rev. Adamio Boddie, and Charles Hill (Defensive Tackle, Chicago Bears). who spoke gracefully about their experiences with sports and what it means to be a true sportsman on and off the court or field. One award in particular stuck out, the most respectful player award went to Charles Anderson who won it because in all situations he was truly a tactful team player. It was amazing to see such a large turnout for the very first season of the new league, and like everything that Sonny's Kids gets involved in we are going to help see this program grow and prosper into something wonderful to continue to help kids nurture their basketball skills and life skills.
